Women and girls have a crucial role in spearheading climate science. As valuable members of society, they deserve to participate equally in public issues. New research outlines that their participation typically generates effective climate outcomes, from adopting sustainable land management strategies to analyzing ways to prioritize renewable energy, all of which are desirable outcomes in climate mitigation. But how does this tie into the bigger picture of female inclusivity in climate science?

This policy paper is based on 30 months of practical experimentation with the participation of five secondary schools, teachers and students, two knowledge partners and one quality assurance partner from different European countries.
The paper addresses policy-makers engaged in climate change education at all levels in an open science schooling context, in particular climate change prevention initiatives missioned to mobilise citizens, communities and in particular the young generation to engage seriously in preventing climate change – and to develop critical attitudes towards production, consumption, research and science.
